Kevin Liu and I were given the opportunity to present the Dust Watch App to NASA’s Health and Air Quality Applied Sciences Team at their conference in Phoenix, Arizona, in January, having received a NASA travel award to come to the event. Not only were we given the opportunity to miss school, we also were able to meet with leading scientists in their respective fields.
We explained the functionalities of the app to the scientists, future plans, and our team’s end goal of reducing fatalities, injures, and property damage from dust storms. You can view our team’s presentation slides here: https://haqast.wiscweb.wisc.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/91/2019/01/2.Liu-Tong.pdf
We have a video of our talk graciously provided by the event coordinator, Daegan Miller from UWisconsin.
We learned a lot at the this conference and met many great people. It was an awesome experience and we look forward to collaborating with some of the event attendees in the future.
